What is paediatric dentistry
- children based oral health
- dealing with birth - 16 years
•since its specialist will only see children who are referred with particularly medical problems.
(Haemophilia - deficiency in clotting factor 8 which increases bleeding and makes it challenging to perform dental procedures)
•behavioural, server anxiety, very high decay rates
Oral surgery
Surgical management of soft and hard tissues of the mouth.
May include jaw, teeth, gums and neck
E.g dental implants
Endodontics
- Study and treatment of the dental pulp.
- Endodontics is important damaged pulp makes your teeth.
- so if you have infection of the pulp will be referred to an Endodontist
Periodontics
Structures surrounding and supporting the teeth.
E.g gum disease
Orthodontics
•the correction of irregularities in the teeth bite and jaw
Why am I interested in paediatrics
Worked with children in the past delivery talks to primary and working with around classes in school.
I would love that passion of working with children in a clinical environment to be translated to a career
What is prosdontics
The replacement of missing teeth and associated soft and hard tissue by prostheses
(Crowns dentures)
