Speed endurance training Flashcards
1
Q
Speed endurance definition
A
- Ability to maintain high speed for a prolonged duration (200-800m)
- Ability to recover speed following short recovery periods (team sports)
2
Q
SE production/maintenance training
A
Production - 10-40s reps at max, 5x exercise recovery time
Maintenance - 5-90s, 1-3 exercise recovery time
3
Q
Physiological adaptations
A
SET = ^ glycogen stores & muscle buffering capacity, glycolytic enzyme activity, ^ mitochondria, enzyme activity, capillarisation, number of Na+-k+ ATPase pumps, oxidative enzymes, IIa shift
4
Q
Performance link
A
SET = ^ SE perf & Endurance perf ( ^lipid metabolism, & V02 kinetics - less lactate produced, more glycogen stored)
5
Q
SET training importance
A
much more time efficient than ET for similar adaptations & important for team sports to maintenance high tempo throughout
