How much do you need to pay out of pocket for a comprehensive eye exam if you have medicare?
No out of pocket expense, it’s bulk billed through medicare which covers the entire fee
How often can you claim medicare rebate for your eye examination if you are:
- <65yo
- > 65yo
- Diabetes
<65: once every 3 years
>65: once per year
Diabetes: once per year, medicare will cover you for diabetic assessment
Does medicare pay for optical glasses and contacts?
Generally no. Medicare would only cover the cost of glasses and CLs when you have IOLs implanted post cataract sx [in this case, you can claim a single pair of corrective prescriptive glasses) *single time benefit only.
What is bulk billing?
Where the government is billed for the cost of your treatment/tests
What is the price range for specs that come in one complete pair?
Complete glasses: $39
Designer glasses: $89
What is the price range for glasses that come as two complete pairs (two-for-one, final price is based on price of more expensive frames in pair)?

Can you try contact lenses for free?
Soft ones, yes. We give you one pair of monthly lenses or five pairs of daily disposable lenses free to try if you’d like to try contact lenses.
This also include multifocal contacts and presbyopic contacts etc (so all kinds of soft really).
