What is the main issue with Easyvision Vusion?
It’s a proclear equivalent and uses a hydrogel material so can cause overwear complications e.g. corneal neovasc etc. However, if a patient is comfortable with no significant issues and been wearing it in the past, best to keep them in them.
What are the typical go-to lenses for daily lenses, in order from most used to less? (2)
Easyvision Linarial
Easyvision Umere
Is there any difference between easyvision and their equivalents?
Other than price, they are clinically the same
Why is Easyvision Vitrea typically used less than linarial and umere?
Easyvision Vitrea is Focus Dailies Aqua Comfort Plus, which uses a hydrogen material (in contrast to Si-Hy)
What material are Freshlook Dailies [coloured contacts] made of?
Nelfilcon A - a Hydrogel material.
When doing a trial for a patient wanting freshlook coloured contacts, why do we use Focus Dailies All Day comfort [or Easyvision opsys] as a trial?
Focus Dailies All Day use the same hydrogel material (nelfilcon A), which simulates how the freshlook contacts will feel on the eye. Freshlook lenses themselves don’t do trials (unless plano trial, good for smaller scripts), so we can use Focus Dailies instead and then order Freshlook if fit good and base it on ORx.
Why may Freshlook plano trial be good for patients after coloured contacts?
They can look in a mirror to see if they like the colour
What type of refraction are Freshlook coloured contacts available in?
Sphere only
What colours are available for Freshlook One-Day lenses? [4]
Blue
Green
Pure Hazel
Grey
What colours are available for Freshlook Colourblend Fortnightlies? [11]

Linarial: Dk/t is 80
Umere: Dk/t is 57
When making an order for CLs, what should you always do first?
Check on Specsavers CL site to ensure prescription is available
If Freshlook lenses don’t fit well, what alternative could we try?
Alcon air optix colours [monthlies with greater breathability and is made from Si-Hy instead of Hy]
Easyvision Uvicia Plus: sph or toric
Easyvision Irisian: sph/tor/mf
Easyvision Aquayes: sph/tor/mf
Easyvision Opteyes: sph/tor/mf
Easyvision Lacrima Plus: sph/tor/mf

What is the most stable toric contact lens that provides the best vision according to research
Coopervision Biofinity torics – i.e. Easyvision Opteyes toric
When doing a CL fit/teach or aftercare, what’s the best way to use socrates?
Ignore testroom and go straight to contact lens screen. The prescription given will be in the plastic pocket and all you have to do is adjust based on any ORx and deem fit ok. NB: just don’t scroll all the way through beforehand as once you hit medicare you can’t go back and will have to exit out (and subsequently printing the script may print the old script).
What medicare item works well for CLAC or fits/teach?
10918
When you order trial CLs after a regular consult since patient interested, how should you write in mx?
Write CL script in mx
When a patient is due for a CL reassessment of current CLs (e.g. it’s been 2 years or refraction has changed), how do you write intent to check CLs in mx?
Patient to do CLAC given rx change or given time since last.
What contact lenses are therapeutically approved by the FDA for therapeutic use [Extended wear/Bandage lens]? [4]
Air Optix Night and Day Aqua [i.e. Easyvision Aquayes]
Purevision
Acuvue Oasys
Sof-Form 55 EW
List 6 indications for bandage lens wear
Pain relief (e.g. bullous keratopathy, RCE)
Promotion of epi healing (e.g. persistent epi defects, RCE, non healing corneal ulcers)
Post-op protection (e.g. post corneal surgery)
Apposition of wound edges (e.g. corneal perforation, after suture removal)
Mechanical protection of ocular surface (e.g. trichiasis, entropion)
Maintenance of ocular hydration (e.g. dry eye, corneal exposure)
Other than for mechanical protection or ocular hydration reasons, where we can do a bandage lens alone, if we apply a bandage lens, what should we also give?
Prophylactic Chlorsig 0.5% QiD
How would a typical CL examination go (steps):
Fit –> Vision + ORx –> remove –> NaFl cornea [simplest since CL screen on socrates has fit section first before ORx]
Should a patient trial Multifocal glasses and multifocal contacts at the same time?
No, because if their is an issue they’ll have it in both. Patients with multifocal specs issues can typically experience even worse issues in MF contacts so need to ensure patient has adapted to their multifocal specs first before trialing multifocal contacts. So you’d give it a little while before they come back for the CLs. Not sure how long is good to wait however, will have to ask. It takes a bit for CL trials to be ordered in, but maybe specify it needs to be at least 2 weeks (ideally 1 month I think).
If current MF wearer with minimal change in rx, it’s fine to then order in MF CL trials.
Of course, go with what the patient wants anyway but just tell them the facts.
What are the unique CL medicares?
