are compulsory for all foreign vessels and US vessels engaged in trade. Pilotage for US vessels is optional if they are engaged in coast-wise trade on the west coast of the US, Alaska and BC and are under control of a federally licensed pilot.

s/s too, unless house is fwd of cargo hold with less than 30’ between hold and aft end of house.
