Idol doesn’t equal good role model
Idolising someone can lead to them becoming a “role model”, usually a celebrity, but celebrity role models don’t have the same effect
Family role model
Family role models are natural and you know more about a family role model whereas with celebrity role models you have limited available information about them
Idolisation
Celebrity role models are often glorified leading to their actions and flaws being glorified and possibly emulated by young people eg Andrew Tate
Not everyone has the same support systems
Jeff Bezos was given 250 grand to start amazon and he had a financial support net while Andrew Tate was born into a wealthy family despite him claiming otherwise, many people don’t have either so they’re at risk of failure and debt
Unrealistic goals
The chances of being a successful influencer is very slim, success in the music industry is around 1%, success rate of actors is barely 2%, only 1 in 16,000 aspiring athletes succeed and become professional
Role model advice
With family role models you can ask them for advice on how to obtain that goal, this isn’t possible with celebrity role models so the goal is harder to reach
