O que é o spatial neglect? Qual a sua localização mais comum?

Answer 1

Failure to report, respond, or orient to stimuli on the contralesional side of space that cannot be attributed to sensory or motor dysfunction.

Can’t find exact lesion location (more severe in frontal parietal lesions – large MCA strokes) but most commonly seen with right inferior parietal lobe lesions – left neglect.

Quais os tipos de neglect?

• Perceptual - unable to perceive or attend to contralateral space: personal neglect (decreased attention to left side of body); near versus far space (within body reach versus outside body reach).
• Motor Neglect or Limb Akinesia - unable to move body part when in left visual field but able to in right field; in studies the corticospinal motor system is intact (he can move his arm!); patient often do not appear like they are attempting to move.
