What is the Phalanx?

The Phalanx is where soldiers are packed closely together, each soldier carries a spear, shield and a sword in his belt. The shield covers the soldiers left hand side and the right hand side of the soldier to is left. It moves forward as a solid wall of spears and shields. If a soldier falls the one behind him fills in.

What would a soldier carry with him + uniform/armour?

Answer 2

A spear (3m long), shield and a sword in his belt, his uniform/armour would be a plummed helmet, a corselet of bronze (chest plate), greaves (metal shinpads), a tunic , leather boots
