Lambrusco
The name of a grape and wine produced in four zones in Emilia-Romagna (home of vinegar from Modena) and one in Lombardy, There are 8 denominizones in which it is produced
Four high quallity Lambruscos
Lambrusco di Sorbara (most recognized), Lambrusco Maestri, Lambrusco Grasparossa, and Lambrusco Salamino.
Styles of Lambrusco
Generally semi-sweet, sparkling, frizannti. Can be still red dry wine. Meant to be drunk young. Low alc.
What Method is used with Lambrusco
Charmat. It can also be made in the traditional method and will say “bottle fermented.”
Spumante means what
Fully sparkling as in the classic method.
Trento D.O.C.
Trento is famous for Chardonnay and Pinot Nero-based bubbly.
Asti Spumante
Fully sparkling wine made from moscato in Asti. Generally sweet and made in charmat method
Moscato d’asti DOCG
Light bubbly version of Asti Spumante made from mocato grape. Generally sweet made in charmat method. Low alc.
Brachetto d’Aqui
“Sweet red frizannti wine from Piedmont” Made in charmat method.
Franciacorta Grapes
Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc, grapes also used to make Champagne.
