His Dutch subjects hated him as they wanted to embrace Protestantism, but he forced them to remain Catholic. Also, since the Dutch were very wealthy, Philip heavily taxed them.

Philip sent a bunch of ships over to England because they were a protestant country and he was a religious catholic. He also believed he had a claim to the throne because the previous queen was his wife. He had a terrible result as they were defeated and lost half of their ships and many people died, he also bankrupted Spain.
