Why can we see the moon?
The Moon does not make its own light . We can see the moon because it reflects light from the sun
Phases of the earth
We cannot always see all of the Moon , so its shape seems to change as it orbits the Earth . These shapes are called phases of the Moon.
Solar eclipse
Sometimes the Moon goes between the sun and the earth . When this happens the sun can be completely blocked out by the Moon , and we get a solar eclipse.
Lunar eclipse
Sometimes the Moon goes into the shadow of the earth . This is a Lunar eclipse , and the Moon looks very dark
What are asteroids ?
Small chunks of rocks that weren’t big enough to become planets
