What are the new limitations for Family Open Work Permits (OWPs) effective January 21, 2025?
Family OWPs will be limited to spouses of:
* International students enrolled in master’s programs of 16 months or longer
* Doctoral programs
* Select professional and eligible programs
* Foreign workers in TEER 0 or 1 occupations or select TEER 2 or 3 occupations
What is the requirement regarding the foreign worker’s work permit for their spouse to apply for a Family OWP?
The foreign worker must have at least 16 months remaining on their work permit at the time of the spouse’s application.
Who will no longer be eligible for Family OWPs under the new changes?

Yes, OWPs that were approved under previous measures and have not expired will remain valid.

A CLB 7 in each Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
What are common refusal grounds for OWP applications?
