children’s ibuprofen dosing
5-10 mg/kg/dose every 6-8 hours, max is 30 mg/kg/day

when to follow up for children’s fever
if less than 2, 24 hours. if more than 2, 3 days
nonpharm counseling for children’s fever
monitor their temperature, avoid mercury thermometer, don’t bundle them up (light clothing), tepid bath only (not cold), keep room cool but not cold, increase fluids
adult pseudoephedrine dose
60 mg every 6 hours, max is 240 mg/day
contraindications for pseudoephedrine
MAOI use, HTN, BPH, DM, thyroid disease, ADHD (esp if on stimulants)
side effects for pseudoephedrine
insomnia, anxiety
topical oxymetazoline dosing
2 sprays every 12 hours, ONLY FOR 3 DAYS DUE TO REBOUND CONGESTION
diphenhydramine adult dosing
25 mg q6-8h, max is 300 mg/day
diphenhydramine kid dosing
12.5 mg q6-8h, max is 150 mg/day
cautions for diphenhydramine
glaucoma, heart disease, HTN, thyroid disease, DM, BPH
dextromethorphan adult dosing
10-20 mg q4h or 30 mg q6-8h, max is 120 mg/day
