What is the Long Telegram?

A

The Long Telegram was the telegram sent by George Kennan (the USA’s ambassador in Moscow) discussing about US-Soviet relationships.
It’s know as the Long Telegram as normally telegrams were quite short, but this one was more like a letter.
The content worried the American government.

Nikolai Novikov (Sviet diplomat in Washington) sent a telegram to the Soviet government that said that the USA wanted to dominate the world with its military power and that americans didn’t want to work with the Soviet Union. Also, people would support a war against the USSR

Impact of Churchill’s Iron curtain speech

A

In 1946, Churchill still had a great influence. He said that the the Soviet Union was a threat to world peace and freedom since communist governments had been set up in Hungary, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria.
