Southern France Flashcards
Describe the climate of Southern France.
It is warm Mediteranean climate, with very hot and dry summers and mild winters. It has low level of rainfall throughout the growing season.
However, the region is not uniform. The slopes of the hills and mountains that are surrounding the region have cooler climate.
The mistral blow through the Rhõne Valley from the northeast and tramontane blows throug the gap between the Massif Central and the Pyrenees from the northwest. These winds have a cooling effect on the region’s climate.
