How did South Asia become a part of the British Empire?
After the 1600s,for around 250 years British traders built ‘trading posts’ along the South Asian coast with Britain taking more and more land.Though,after a huge rebelion against the foreign rule in 1857,the British government decided to put India under its rule
When South Asians came to Britain,what did they work as?
Many worked as cooks,deckhands and sailors for on board ships bringing goods to Britain though there were also 40,000 South Asians who were lascars,ayahs,servants, students,officials,doctors,tourists and buisiness men
State a few reasons why South Asians came to Britain
1) There were violence in a few areas of South Asia
2) People staying in South Asia were British Passport Holders so they could legally live in Britain
3) Some places in South Asia suffered from cyclones,floods,famines as well as terrible poverty.
