what is statute law and give an example
A
- any law passed by parliament
- all laws including those that regulate the constitution must be approved by parliament
- equal franchise act 1928 —> equal voting rights to women

A
- traditions or customs or practices not enforced by the law but still upheld
- sailsbury convention —> HoL will not block any legislation being passed that was in the governing partys most recent manifesto
- general elections on Thursdays

- not legally binding but taken as significant guides
