what is the parliament act of 1911?
STATUTE - Prime ministers couldn’t be part of house of Lords, decreased power for Lords - can only delay passing of bill for 2 years
what is the parliament act of 1949?
STATUTE - the Lords can only delay legislation by 1 year rather than 2
what is the house of lords act of 1999?
STATUTE - reform in the house of Lords to reduce the number of hereditary peers (down to 92 from 754)
what is the human rights act of 1998?
STATUTE - EU rights brought into UK law, setting out the fundamental rights for people in the UK
what is the salisbury convention?
CONVENTION -States that the house of lords cannot block legislature from being passed, can only deny it once and delay only by a year
what is the Collective Cabinet Responsibility?
CONVENTION - members of the cabinet must publicly support all governmental decisions made in Cabinet, even if they do not privately agree with them
what is Individual Ministerial Responsibility?
CONVENTION - Convention that means if a minister breaches an unwritten code of conduct they resign

CONVENTION - Inherent rights of the monarch now exercised by the PM

CONVENTION - The ability of the monarch to consent to legislation and has the power to abide by the law however they want

TREATY - The treaty that was the foundation of the EU

TREATY - Granted further powers and agreed to an EU constitution which included a process to leave the EU

TREATY - Saw the UK commit itself to cut carbon emissions
