SOURCES OF RENEWABLE AND NON-RENEWABLE Flashcards
What is renewable energy?
Renewable energy is energy generated from natural resources—such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat—which are renewable (naturally replenished).
Renewable energy technologies range from solar power, wind power, hydroelectricity/micro hydro, biomass and biofuels for transportation.
What is non-renewable energy?
Non-renewable energy comes from sources that will run out or will not be replenished in our lifetimes—or even in many, many lifetimes.
Most non-renewable energy sources are fossil fuels: coal, petroleum, and natural gas. Carbon is the main element in fossil fuels.
This is energy from plants and animals, including wood from trees and waste from plants and animal’s manure.
