What is the provenance of the vase ?

It’s a volute Krater
Depicts a team of actors celebrating with costume including an aulos player, a playwright and Dionysus

What is the significance of this source ?
A
- They are in costume for a satyr play- we can see this as the actors are wearing phallic props (highlights the comedic and undignified nature of the plays) such as Chorus members dressed as Satyrs
- costumes were very elaborate and intricate- especially those or key characters/ high status such as Heracles and Dionysus also the use of tightly fitted sleeves to hide age and gender so actors play multiple roles
- more realistic, life like masks were used in tragedy and satyr all actors and chorus wore masks (mostly holding them on the vase)

What else can we comment thinking about gender ?

Top right fit guess can be seen to be holding masks including on finger holding a notably female mask which is white and has long hair so the masks could be male or female
