reenactment of First Fleet landing to commemorate 150th anniversary of British colonisation
wanted to use 25 aboriginal men against their will
key aboriginal groups united to host a national protest known as the day or mourning
invasion day
goal was to draw attention to 150 years od discrimination

provided opening address at the conference
wore black for mourning

A

Australians voted to change the Constitution so that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples would be counted as part of the population and the Commonwealth would be able to make laws for them. Both labour and liberal supported the referendum
