end rhyme
rhymed sounds at the end of the line
internal rhyme
rhymed sounds within the line
rhyme, true rhyme or perfect rhyme
when the last rhyming syllable of each line sounds exactly the same ( they are also spelled the same.)
imperfect rhyme
substitution of assonance or consonance for true rhyme in the last rhyming syllable of each line.
assonance
repetition of internal vowel sounds in words in close proximity (time line, free and easy)
Consonance
repetition of final consonant sounds in words in close proximity (short and sweet, strut and fret)
alliteration
repetition of initial identical consonant or vowel sounds, usually at the beginning of a word ( sweet songs sonorously sound)
rhyme scheme
a repeated pattern of end rhymes usually marked with letters.
blank verse
unrhymed iambic pentameter
free verse
poetry without standardized rhyme, meter, or structure.
