what is surround sound?

A

Speakers placed around the audience seating to help immerse them into the play.

What is directional sound and what effect does it create?

A

Speakers placed in a particular part of the stage to make it seem like the sound is coming from there (e.g offstage speakers make it seem like there are people talking outside).
It makes the scene more realistic and immersive

What is panning?

A

The process of sending audio to specific speakers, but can only go in one direction ( can’t send it to random speakers, sound moves from one direction to the other)

What is routing?

A

The same as panning but the sound can be sent to random speakers, doesn’t have to be in order.

A

When sound bounces off the surface of a space.
Helps the audience understand the location of the scene
