Sound energy Flashcards
Why can you not hear a scream when you are in space?
Sound is an energy type that must have particles to pass through, and in space there are not enough particles to move around in, and they move too slowly
What are compressions?
Particles that are close together
What are rare-fractions?
Sound particles that are further apart
What can sound energy do?
Be transmitted
Be absorbed
Be reflected
How can sound energy be transmitted?
Sound can be passed through an object
What is the process of being absorbed in sound energy?
It is trapped dissapoint
What is the process of being reflected by sound energy?
Sound can be reflected off of hard and flat surfaces as it bounces off
If the distance between 2 compressions is big then does it have low pitch or high pitch?
Low pitch as the frequency is low
If distance between 2 compressions is small what pitch does it have?
high pitch as frequency increases
