Sound and Light Tommy Flashcards
What is a pitch of a sound?
Pitch is caused by the frequency of sound waves
Something vibrating very rapidly causes a high-pitch note
Something vibrating slow causes a low-pitch note
What is a sound wave¿
Caused from vibrations and the waves spread out in all directions and when the sound waves r arch your ears it causes your ear drums to vibrate
What is infrasound?
Sounds with a pitch below human hearing
What is ultrasound
Any sound above human hearing
What is resonance?
Forced Vibrations cause something to vibrate at a natural frequency
What is intensity?
The measure of light illuminating a surface
What is a decibel?
The unit to measure how loud something is
What is fundamental frequency harmonics?
Must be 100 hertz away
What is sonar?
Determines distance by measuring the time it takes for sound waves to reflect back from a surface
What is a basilar membrane?
Vibrates natural frequencies
What is a photon?
They’re particles that have no mass they’re more like bundles of energy but the energy in a photon is located in a particular place
What is intensity?
The measurement of light Illuminating a surface
What is radar?
Antennas that send radio waves in all directions till signals reaches something and then it sends signals back to show location
What is a light Ray?
The effects of light
What is virtual image
Image that you can see from an apparent path.
