SOP Flashcards
Flight Schedule Procedures (WO-1)
The SDO is responsible for overseeing the execution of the daily flight schedule. When the changes to the flight schedule need to be made, those changes must be annotated on the master flight schedule and approved by the CO. In the absence of the CO, the XO, or in the absence of the XO, the Ops O may approve the changes. If none of the above personnel are available, the SDO is authroized to make the required change. When a change is made, the SDO, shall ensure all requirements of CNAF have been met.
When conducting embarked det ops, changes to a published flight schedule SHALL be approved by the ships CO and the Det OIC
WX criteria (WO-2)
Shore or Ship operations - 500/1
If positive radar control and a CCA, PAR, or ILS is available for recovery, minimum launch weather minimums are 200 - 1/2

W- Aircrew SHALL not be scheduled to brief a flight event until 10hrs after completion of post flight duties
35 - Pilots SHALL not be scheduled for a flight the day following SDO. Aircrewman SHALL not be scheduled for a flight on the same day they stood any watch between 0000-0800

- The APU SHALL be turned on for practice autorotations and single engine training
- Non emergency use of the backup / emergency raise modes of the ALFS is prohibited
- While in the shipboard environment (takeoff, departure, approach, landing), simulated aircraft emergencies or intentional degradations are prohibited
CAL LZ training W&35
- In order to conduct CAL / LZ training to unprepared surfaces, the flight schedule SHALL annotate CAL LZ.
- CAL LZ training SHALL be conducted on approved ranges or airfields per their governing directives. Pre mission planning SHALL be conducted to calculate power available and power required given expected conditions at the CAL/LZ site. A power available check SHALL be conducted at the planned landing altitude before commencing the approach. Th MRP available vs max power required SHALL be 10% or greater to proceed with the approach. Operational CAL/LZ flights other than those of operation necessity SHALL also adhere to this power margin.

Performance Calculations 35
At a minimum, all flight events SHALL brief the following performance calculations: Single engine airspeed, dual eng continious trq, single eng c power trq, HIGE, HOGE, Fly away trq, and blade stall for anticipated flight regimes.
Formation flight 35
Crews SHOULD brief face to face to the max etxtent practicable. Briefing SHALL be conducted in accordance with the wing training manual. This is not intended to preculde join ups between embarked aircraft, assisting squadrons unfamiliar with the local area, or during emergencies.
Passengers / Orientation and indoc flights
W
1. Simulated emergencies
2. Practice autos
3. Intentional aircraft degradations,
4. Ordnance release
Shall not be performed with passengers embarked or during orientation flights to include midshipman fam flights.
Completion of NASTP is mandatory for all orientees unless waived in rare cases by designated approval authority.
35
In addition to conductin the Qualified observer checklist in the PCL, Orientees SHALL complete training on the following piror to an orientation flight in the cockpit
1. Cyclic collective trim switches and usage
2. Attitude gyro, airspeed / alt indicator and usage
3. PCL location and usage duiring EPs
4. ICS switch location and usage
5. Collective retraction
5. Egress procedures
6. Rotor brake
Aircrewmen SHALL carry a pilot PCL on orientation flights.
Required hotseat turnover items 35
The off going HAC SHALL include
1. Status of exceedances
2. Last max power check
3. Hit checks if not previoulsy recorded
and any other degradations in their turnover with the oncoming HAC.
Post flight integrity checks 35
In the shipboard environment, the off going H2P and aircrewman SHOULD conduct a post flight integrity check with particular emphasis on popped fasteners with the best available light source prior to hot refueling. Missing, broken, or unfasated corner fasteners SHOULD be corrected as soon as possible.
Miminum equipment 35
The following are prohibited without a fully operable radar altimeter
1. Training flights at night
2. Coupled hovers
3. Practice CAL/LZ landings
Low Level flight procedures
“Unless directed by operational requirements or as directed/required by controlling agencies, published restrictions, or approved training ranges, the following min AGL flight altitudes SHALL be observed.”
Overland populated area 1k agl
Unpopulated area 500ft agl
Overwater Day 50 ft agl
unaided night 150 ft agl
NVD 100 FT AGL
Note: Flight operations down to 50ft over water during day conditions is intended for operational or tractical trianing flights where the altitude profiles support authorized mission or training objectives
Coupled hover 70ft
Note: Following establishment of a steady coupled hover at 70 FT aircraft altitude may be reduced to no lower than 40ft to conduct live hoisting operations at the PICs discretion
Terrain flight (low level routes) 200 ft AGl only on apporved low legel routes and ranges
SACT training Day: 100ft AGL
Night: 500 ft AGL
Hot Refueling / crew switch procedures W
Passengers SHALL not occupy the aircraft during hot refueling.
During crew switches, the helicopter SHALL be under the control of a designated helicopter pilot and there SHALL be a PIC to PIC verbal turnover.
Crew Req - Enlisted aircrew
W - Enlisted Aircrew SHOULD be utilized to the max extent practicable on all flights
35 - Aircrewman SHALL be embarked on all evaluation / check flights, night flights, and all scheduled IMC flights. This requirement is not intended to preclude pilots from accepting an IFR clearance when they encounter poor weather conditions. Cases requiring flights to be conducted without an aircrewman SHALL be approved by the CO
Crew req - check Ins
New Check ins SHALL complete a check in syllabus per HSM35 1500 INST
Crew req - Fall protection
All HSM-35 personnel SHALL receive fall protection training prior to conducting operations on top of aircraft
