- Allowed private masses
How effective were Somerset’s religious changes?
- He was trying to enforce Protestantism but is unable to do so fully due to the rebellions of 1549 and because there are still Catholics on the PC
- Suggests that public opinion is also restricting Somerset
- Usurped in October, 1549 so only has short term impact
What was the significance of the First Book of Common Prayer?
- It was a middle ground between Catholicism and Protestantism
- It showed that Somerset was trying to gradually introduce Protestantism across the country
