why is fuel poverty especially bad for pensioners ?

A

as they are frailer and more likely to spend more time at home they need to spend more on heating their home. Single women are more effected by this as they live longer thus living alone after being widowed

Q

so why is rising fuel costs bad for those in poverty ??

A

being in poverty itself is bad for your health (poor housing and shit) so being ill while in poverty means needing to spend more on fuel as it leads to more time at home.

Q

however!!!!!!!!!

A

poor diet is NOT a universal thing

17
Q

for example!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A

womens HLE in NE England is 60.1 compared to 66.7 in SE England

18
Q

this shows ?????

A

that, the same with housing, if you can afford to you are not affected by this. That wealthier women in wealthier areas of the UK can afford the healthier food thus making them live longer.

19
Q

so overall ?????

A

wealthier older people are not affected by the things that affect poorer older people showing that poverty is the underpinning feature #ihatepoverty
