Somatization Disorder
Briquet’s Symptom
- One or more symptoms affecting voluntary motor control or sensory function and suggesting neurologic etiology
- symptom usually preceded by stress or conflict
Conversion Disorder
Patients with conversion disorder, who appear relatively unworried about their serious impairment.
La belle indifference
-Preoccupation over at least 6 months
with fear or idea of having a serious disease based on misinterpretation of bodily symptoms
Hypochondriasis
- Fear persists despite negative medical findings and physician reassurance
- non-delusional
- pt’s express fear when discussing their symptom
Hypochondriasis
- Debilitating preoccupation with a real or imagined physical defect,preoccupation is not accounted for by anorexia nervosa, the defect is usually slight but the patient’s concern is excessive.
- Preoccupation is not accounted for by anorexia nervosa
- Occurs equally in men and women
Body Dysmorphic Disorder
- Pain symptom is predominant focus, psychological factors play the primary role in the perception, onset, severity, exacerbation or maintenance of pain
- psychological factors are involved in the onset or other aspect of the pain
Pain Disorder
-single symptom related to voluntary motor or sensory or sensory functioning suggesting a neurologic condition and refered to as pseudoneurologic
Undifferentiated Somatoform Disorder
pseudocyesis
mistaken belief of being pregnant
Misenterpretation or exaggeration of unexplained physical symptoms, patient does not meet full criteria for any other somatoform disorders
