Px unconsciously converts mental stress —> physical symptom
Typically indicates a disease of brain/nerve

Total loss of vision
Deafness
Paralysis of arms/legs
Pain disorder as subtype of somatisation
Px has persistent pain that cannot be contributed to physician disorder

Px spends a lot of time worried + concerned about their appearance
