Solutions & Crystallisation Flashcards
Solute
In a solution The substance which dissolves is call the solute
Solvent
The substance in which the solitude dissolves is known as the solvent
Solution
A solution is formed when a solute dissolves in a solvent
Concentrated solution
Is this means there is a lot of solute dissolved in the solvent
Dilute
This means there is less solute dissolved in the solvent
Soluble
If a substance dissolves in a solvent and it is said to be soluble
Insoluble
A substance that will not dissolve
Solubility
How much will dissolve
Suspension
Means something will be floating at the top someone was floating in the middle and some of the scattered at the bottom
A saturated solution
A solution that contains as much dissolved solute as possible at that temperature
Crystallisation
Is the formation of crystals by cooling are saturated solution
When are crystals big and when are crystals small
Cool quickly small crystals cool slowly large crystals
