Which salts are always soluble?
SPAN salts:
Sodium, Potassium, Ammonium, Nitrates
What halides are soluble?
Halides are salts made from Group 17 elements
All halides except Silver and Lead (II)
halides are soluble.
What sulfates are soluble?
All sulfates except
Barium, Lead (II) and Calcium sulfates are soluble
What carbonates are soluble?
Only Sodium, Potassium and Ammonium carbonates are soluble
What hydroxides are soluble?
Only Group 1 and heavier group 2 hydroxides are soluble
What metals are soluble?
All metals are insoluble
What metal oxides are soluble?
Only Group 1 and heavier group 2 metal oxides are soluble
What colour are iodide solutions and precipitates?
Solution is colourless, precipitate is yellow
What colour are chloride solutions and precipitates?
Solution is colourless, precipitate is white
What colour are Group 1 and 2 salt solutions and precipitates?
Solution is colourless, precipitate is white
What colour are copper salt solutions and precipitates?
Solution is blue or green, precipitate is blue (except CuCO₃ which is green)
What colour are iron(II) salt solutions and precipitates?
Solution is pale green, precipitate is dirty green
What colour are iron(III) salt solutions and precipitates?
Solution is yellow, precipitate is reddish brown
