Q

Give examples of crystalline bonding types and their properties

A
  • Covalent network - strong covalent bonds, high mpt, poor conductors e.g. diamond
  • Covalent molecular - dispersion, soft, low mpt, poor conductor e.g. ice
  • Metallic solids - delocalised electrons - sea of electrons, good conductors e.g iron
  • Ionic solids - lattice structure, poor conductors, water soluble e.g. NaCl
