What does top soil mean?

A

Topsoil is the upper, outermost layer of soil, usually the top 5–10 inches. It has the highest concentration of organic matter and microorganisms and is where most of the Earth’s biological soil activity occur

A

Adding Fertiliser and other chemicals to soil for Farming will change the pH and nurtient levels within the soil.
Heavy machinery can compact soil and therefore reduces the ability of soil to drain water causing flooding
