A

when a youth commites a crime, police officers are appart of the conseqence desison, te youth could have social workers in order to get help, the young person has to complete their punishment, could get charged, judge will decied if guilty or not guilty, if outh fails to complete punishment they will go to court and meet with a judge.

When does a youth go to court?

A

If you are 12 or older and 17 or younger, and you break the law, you may have to go to youth justice court, where you will have to take responsibility for your actions.

What is a Jury and what is Jury Duty

A

A jury is made up of 12 individuals who need to come together (unbaiased) to make a decison about the offender. They can have their input on weather or not they think the person is gulity.

Jury duty is when you are sellected to go to court to become appart of a jury. Unless you are 65 years or older, you have to attend.

A

An advocacy group supports a political or social cause.

A

Indigenous worldview: Society operates in a state of relatedness. Everything and everyone is related. There is a real belief that people, objects and the environment are all connected. Law, kinship and spirituality reinforce this connectedness. Identity comes from connections.

A

A sentencing circle is an Indigenous restorative justice hearing tribunal that is conducted in collaboration with members of the community and the criminal justice system.

The sentencing circle includes the accused, an elder, judge, Crown, and lawyer.
