soft tissue Flashcards
all soft tissue
can do longitudinal, perpendicular, or inhibitory
hold 1-2 seconds, release 1-2 second, repeat until you feel tissue soften?
thoracic: prone pressure
place hands on pts back opposite side of you and strech muscles away from spine
lumbar ROM
*perpendicular*
thoracic: prone pressure with counterpressure
place hands on either side of spine, move them *parralel* opposite of each other
lumbar ROM
thoracic: subscapular stretch
put pts arm behind back, grab on to scapula and pull on it laterally
lumbar ROM
upper thoracic with shoulder block, lateral recumbent
place pts arm over yours to grab their muscle behind shoulder. put other hand on their shoulder. stretch muscle laterally (*perpendicullary*)
lumbar ROM
lower thoracic under the shoulder, lateral recumbent ST
put pts arm over yours and grab their lower back. pull on muscles on side of their spine closest to you using finger pads while rotating your elbows out.
*have patient breath*
lumbar ROM
paraspinal inhibitory technique
lay pt in prone and cup finger pads around side of spine closest to you and hold for 30-60 sec
lumbar prone pressure
perpendicular lower back stretch towards you
lumbar ROM
lumbar: prone pressure with counterleavage
perpendicularly stretch lower back away from you while grabbing pts hip
lumbar ROM
lumbar: paraspinal perpendicular stretch
stretch pts back towards you (can grab hip for counterforce)
lumbar ROM
cervical traction
put one hand on subocciptial area of pt and other hand on chin to pull upward
cervical ROM
c-spine: unilateral forearm fulcrum forward bending
put arm under pts head and use other hand to rotate their head
cervical ROM
c-spine: bilateral forearm fulcrum forward bending
put both arms under pts head and lift head up
cervical ROM
c-spine: contralateral traction
drage pts neck muscles towards you while pushing head away *perpendicular*
cervical ROM
c-spine cradling with traction
move finger pads longitudinally up pts neck
cervical ROM
