the silent generation
1929-1945, grew up during the great depression and WWII, fought in the Korean and Vietnam wars, appreciate simplicities of life, upholding values from previous generations-more conservative and cautious than their parents
the baby boomers(Generation W)
1946-1964, born following WWII during a huge increase in population; fought in the vietnam war, highest consumption rate of traditional media, goal-centric, competitive, and resourceful, more liberal than previous generation
generation x
1965-1980, grew up in a post-vietnam world with communism being a reality; the cold war; beginning of a digital age; balance between TV/radio and computer interactions. focused on flexibility and individuality
millennials(generation y)
1981-1996, grow up in a world with computers, the internet; experienced the Great Recession, remembers the events of 9/11 and the wars of afghanistan and iraq; more technological than previos generations; delays major purchases and life events
generation z
1997-2012; grew up in a post 9/11 world, digitally inclined and culturally diverse; huge desire to learn about personal finance because of the struggles of their parents; multi-taskers, concerned with security and stability
