What is Crime?
Crime is something that is against the law and can be prosecuted for.
What is Deviance?
Deviance is breaking any social norms.
Who said, ‘‘Not all deviance is crime but all crime is deviant?

What is ‘Social Control’?
Methods which persuade individuals to conform to the social norms, values and beliefs learned through the early stages of socialisation.
What is ‘Formal Social Control’?
Through institutions like law enforcement, these are agencies specifically set up to ensure people conform.
What is ‘Informal Social Control’?
Through peers and family, these groups sanction but are not primarily involved enforcing social control.
What is Assimilation?
Becoming adapted to a different way of life.
What is multiculturalism?
Different groups with different traditions and way of life joining together in a society.

Free education
Free healthcare
Freedom of speech
Law and prosecution system
Why should we assimilate from different cultures?
They should pay taxes and be able to pay practice their religion.
What is the Uk seen as?
An open system

Capitalism make racism happen which causes crime
What problems have Islamaphobia caused?
It has made Asian crime and violence worse.
What problems can it cause in the criminal justice system?
Ethnic minorities may be treated differently. They may get a worse sentence than a white man would get for the same crime.

Ethnic neighbourhoods are over police and have policing more militant
