A

focuses on the way social arrangements of many forms keep certain groups of people from the opportunity to meet their basic needs and thrive (johan galtung, used today by advocates for improvement in health care delivery on global scale)–important to HIV because we need to understand what social structures leave certain groups of people at higher risk for HIV and reduced access to care

A

focuses on interactions between individuals and what is being conveyed beyond actual words, can study relationships between doctors and patients, international aid organizations and villagers (george herbert mead, erving goffman, others)

the way in which global relations are structured such that certain nations and their people are advantaged, linked to development of overseas transportation and emergence of colonial system and reality that even in a post colonial world many of form colonies remain reliant and indebted to former colonizers (immanual wallerstein, structural violence)
