Studied the priorities of young girls in the 1970’s, which were marriage and having a family, compared to in the 1990’s where they changed to having a good education and job.

Parental aspirations are the most important factors of attainment.

Teachers label their students, which become more firm over time.
Studied anti-school subcultures and found it was mostly boys who created and were a part of them.

Feminist.
There are three functions of education, teaching skills required for work, role allocation and secondary socialisation.

Marxist.
The education system socialises students from a working class background into accepting their status.

Laddish subcultures provide an excuse for boys to be disruptive in class and not pay attention because being smart isn’t ‘cool’.
