what is Marxism basic concept
- Marxists believe the system we live in (capitalism) divides everyone up into two basic classes the bourgeoisie (ruling class) and the proletariat (working class)
- Marxists believe that the bourgeoisie control the economy + all cultural institutions
- Marxists argue that socialisation is an ideological process in that it’s main aim is to transmit the ruling class ideology that capitalist society is meritocratic

- functionalists believe that everything has a function in society

- society functions much like the human body, it is an organic system that is self maintained and self supporting and helps maintaining other aspects of society
what is the feminism basic concept?
- the core belief of the feminist theory is that society is structured around patriarchy
- this male dominance in society creates gender inequality and the oppression of women
