To manage stress, to feel good, for a sense of well-being, to live longer, to improve image, enjoyment, to make new friends, hobby, to please parents, copy role models, to make money
How does the media positively affect sport
Increases interest, promotes healthy living, role models, promotional campaigns, wide variety, create funds and sponsorship used to encourage and gives information e.g training methods.
How does the media negatively affect participation
May show negative role models, may encourage/reinforce unhealthy lifestyle, couch potato syndrome, minority sports/social groups under-represented, make people feel inadequate, dangers
