Learning from family backgrounds etc

Learning from outside influences such as school, social media etc
Culture
The sharing and learning of things through society that can be passed through from generation to generation. These can be important things such as language, belief’s etc
Values
A set of principles or goals that teach us what is right and wrong to influence what we should aim for in life, e.g. Manners
Norms
The rules and expectations that are expected in society
Sanctions
A from of social control to allow us to try and follow the norms, encourage people.
Rewards are positive sanctions whereas punishment are negative
Social control
A barrier that stops people in society from doing something wrong
Subcultures
People that from groups which are significantly different from the mainstream culture, smaller cultures which use their own set of norms and values
Agencies of socialisation
Where we learn what socialises us, such as family, religion etc
Social construct
Not fixed but differs between times, places and cultures
Secularisation
Decline in religion
Liberalisation
People are less traditional. These is less stigma attached to being gay, single etc
Socialisation
The modification from infancy of an individual’s behaviour to conform with the demands of social life
