What are the primary agents of socialization?
First and foremost agents of socialization such as our family
What are the secondary agents of socialization?
Inducts and already socialized person into new sectors of society
What is anticipatory socialization?
The process by which knowledge and skills are learned for future roles
What is re-socialization?
The process of learning a new and different set of attitudes, values, and behaviors from those of one’s backgrounds
What are total institutions?
A place where people are isolated from the rest of society for a set period of time and come under the control of the officials who run the institution

- Amoral stage (birth to 3)
- Pre-conventional stage (3-8)
- Conventional (8-10)
- Post-conventional (10+)
Stage with immediate gratification, little or no concern for others

Stage where one learns the rules and follows them to stay out of trouble

Stage where norms/ values are taught by morality that develops as you mature

Stage that can reflect the concepts of what’s right or wrong at an abstract level; can distinguish between universal and relative morality
