what is primary socialisation
occurs in the ealry stages of a infants life (0-5), very important in the learning process

intimate and prolonged contact with their family members, they teach us the basic norms and values of society.
what are the 5 agents of secondary socialisation
peers, education, media, religion, workplace
how do peers act as agents of secondary socilasition
they are groups of with people who are similar age group to you, they learn what is acceptable behaviours from their peers.
-they try to “fit in and conform”.
- there are typically “leaders” and have a higher status than the followers. (hierarchies).
how does edcuation act as agents of secondary socialisation
everyone learns the formal curriculum (maths, English) but they also learn what is called the hidden curriculum. this is things that are learnt outside of the lesson (sanctions for those who disobey, achievement awards.
