Social theory(bandura) Flashcards
what was Bandura experiment about
Bandura experiment is to study and observe the behaviour of children when imitating their role models
What was bandura findings?
he discovered that children who observe aggressive behaviour displayed aggressive behaviour against the doll they also used words and aggressive behaviour against the doll which was similar to role models
What’s Bandura process of modelling
1) modelling is where a person copies the behaviour of a role model
2) Modelling can also refer to the behaviour being advertised by the role model
What is vicarious reinforcement
Vicarious reinforcement is something that is felt indirectly by imagining what another is feeling and experienecing
this when we observe someone else being either positively or negatively reinforced for behaving a certain way
Why is it important for care staff to understand SLT(social learning theory )
This is helps the care staff to understand more about people backgrounds and the way they act This gives them idea that they way they act may come from family members or friends
this also helps the staff to present themselves as positive roles models
What is the aim of Bobo doll experiment (bandura)
The aim of the study was to investigate whether young children observed aggressive behaviour displayed towards the doll. They also use words and behaviour which were similar to their role models.
What are the strengths for the bobo doll experiment
1) Emphasises the importance of our environment particularly in role modelling
2) Explains how we learn many aggressive behaviours from our role models
What are the weaknesses of the bobo doll experiment
1) Ignores the role of nature and biological factors
2) Too simplistic
