Where do attitude come from ?
Attitude: beliefs or feelings related to a person, then got event.
( to respond favorably or unfavorably )
3 main sources:
1- cognitive source: what we think about a person
2- Affective source: feel about someone to thing
3- behavior
Cognitive sources
Simply your thoughts and beliefs about the person to even.
* general thoughts and opinion
Different experience ( negative to positive ) can change attitude ( where they come from )
Affective Sources
- Evaluative conditioning
Paying the stimulus with positive or negative things to shape how you feel about it
( E.G commercials, how they try to shift how you feel towards a product )

- Mere exposure effect
The tendency to developing a preference for a person, place, or thing just because it’s familiar to you.
( E.G a study was conducted where a women sat in the from the class, but did not interact, at the end of the term they asked the students to rate the women that were in the front, * liking*
The theory of planned behavior
FOR any behavior you can think of… you have to attitude, norms, and control.
- thinks call can lead to “behavioral intention”
The theory of planned behavior

1) Attitude toward the behavior: “ I’m for physical fitness OR Subjective Norms “ my neighbor seem to be jogging. OR Perceived control: “ I could easily do this. All these lead to 2) Behavior intention: “ I’m going to start next week. finally 3) Behavior: “ actually going along and doing it.
When do attitude predict Behavior ?
- When other influences on behavior are minimized
E.G removing pressure to succeed to prevent cheating
When do attitude predict behavior ?
- When attitude is specific to behavior
E.g how do you feel about safe sex? ( to predict behavior )
While , How do you feel about condom use? ( predicts behavior )
When do attitude predict behavior ?
- when attitude is potent
E.G reminding people of their attitude can strengthen it.
- cheating is wrong
