What was the butlers act.
A
After the 2nd ww2 the butlers education act of 1944 introduced all pupils schools, aimed to abolish class bases inequalities.

Name four problems with the tripartite system.
A
- For most pupils only two types of schools were avaible - grammar and secondary. Few techianal schools were because the cost of equping them
- Grammar schools attended by around 20% of pupils they would specailse in academic subjects that led to university and well paid jobs. The other 75% of pupils were seen as failures and denied opertunities.
- = the social divide remained intact most grammar were taken by middle class students and secondary schools were seen as failures. 1959 crowner report suggests working class talent was being wasted

Name some problems of comprehensive schools.
A
- Geographical catchment areas often inhabited by one social class so this means school mixing was limited also the triparte system stil exsicited
- =most schools organised by ability for example setting and streaming and due to the link between social class and achievement this meant Higher streams were domanited by middle class and lower streams by working class.
