refers to the legislation, guidelines and interventions designed to change, maintain or create living conditions that are necessary for human welfare
- it is designed to address social issues = reduce crime

A

gov has developed new policies to address knife crime = increase max sentence for those found with zombie style knives from 6 months to 2 years and another which is the knife crime prevention orders which is a community based sentence to steer young people away from knife crime.
