German victimhood and the younger generation

  • a renewed focus on war criminals seemed from this
  • a number of high up Nazis such as Adolf Eichmann were but in trial and executed

  • especially through music

  • apolitical media became politicised, demonstrated in the role of music
  • rock and punk became a subversive counter culture in the 1960s
  • student movements and left wing parties presented opposition to the state, which would come to ahead in 1968
